Sweep UV – One Click Tools

The Sweep modifier builds great mouldings – and terrible UVs. The end caps come out with broken, zero-area coordinates, and the single unwrap twists the texture at every corner. Tiling a wood grain or a tile pattern means redoing the unwrap by hand – every time the path changes.

Sweep UV turns that into one modifier. Drop it on top of your Sweep and it reads the underlying spline to remap the texture cleanly, segment by segment:

  • Every run → a crisp box mapping aligned to the spline – U along the path, V across the profile, square cells, no drift. Straights and curves alike follow the spline.
  • Corners → a clean seam instead of a twist.
  • End caps → finally mapped – no more broken UVs – with a choice to align them to the top or the side face.

It is a real modifier, not a one-shot script: it lives in the stack, updates live as you edit the path or the profile, bakes nothing, and survives collapsing the spline stack or copying the object.

Built-in UVW-Xform controls let you tile, flip, offset and rotate the result without stacking another modifier – U/V Tile, Flip U/V, U/V Offset, Rotation – plus a Map cap toggle and a Cap on side alignment switch.

Per-region Material IDs. Give the end caps and the side/edge faces their own Material IDs in one click, so a Multi/Sub-Object material can texture them differently from the flat faces – perfect for plywood edge banding (chant): veneer on the faces, banding on the edges, a third material on the cut ends.

Features:

  • One click – add it above the Sweep, no setup
  • Spline-aware, per-segment box mapping that follows the path on every run
  • Fixes degenerate end-cap UVs, with a top/side alignment choice
  • Per-region Material IDs for caps and side/edge faces (plywood banding, trim…)
  • Built-in tile / flip / offset / rotate
  • Non-destructive, map channel 1, renderer-agnostic; survives stack collapse and object copy
  • Native C++ modifier – lives in the stack, evaluates live

Perfect for

  • Skirting, cornices, crown & cove moulding
  • Picture & door frames, architectural trim
  • Plywood & panel edge banding (chant)
  • Handrails, railings, pipes & conduits

3ds Max 2021 to 2027 – renderer-agnostic. The bundle ships the matching build for each version. Just drag the .mzp into a 3ds Max viewport, then restart Max once. No manual copying needed.
